I could never understand blogging. Why do I care about other people’s thoughts on life? Are people seriously going to read a stranger’s opinion on something in their incredibly valuable spare time?
Then I realized – as a TV, movie and music junkie – when DON’T we listen to and soak in other people’s ideas, thoughts, opinions and stories? Whether it’s truth or fiction, everything we learn and enjoy is manifested by another person. It’s the beauty of humankind’s mutual dependency.
As someone passionate about capturing a scrapbook of life’s moments through writing and photography, I began to consider creating an online space beyond my presence on a variety of social media sites. Ultimately what cemented my decision was something my blogger Obi-Wan (check out http://brianknits.com/) said to me, “You have to blog for yourself.” As a Padawan blogger, that reason alone made the most sense to me. And IF even one person enjoys my photos, weekly entries and shares their own insights, well that’s the icing on the cake!
Our culture continues to rapidly evolve before our eyes. Social media is breeding a new, more collaborative communicator, the internet is the new Encyclopedia Brittanica and blogs are the way people learn from each other. We are now more than mere students of the world, we are now students AND the teachers.
Welcome to my online journal. I am honored to share a virtual classroom with you.

Welcome to the world of blogging! Sounds like you’ve got worthwhile things to say. I look forward to reading those thoughts.
Love this, Karlynn! The comment about the internet being the Encyclopedia made me chuckle. This is a little different, but I remember getting so excited to get to click around in the Microsoft Encarta CDs and learn about stuff. I can’t imagine using something like that these days!
Good luck on your blogging and your adventures 🙂 Hopefully someday, I’ll have a consistent blog that I can share. I just keep starting and stopping…So far you seem to be more successful than I have ever been. Keep it up!
Thanks Heather! Sadly, I have notes about many trips, but way behind in actually writing about them. I’m playing catch up =) But it is therapy when I have a few minutes to unwind, I light a Yankee Candle, make a cup of coffee and reminise about my adventures! I highly recommend just diving in, the water’s fine =)
