Been a while

Well, ok, it’s been a while since I formally “blogged,” but I’ve been active on other social sites for years. I never wanting blogging or updating my page to feel like a chore. I update FB, Insta, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, etc. when I want to share something. Not everything awesome that happens to me goes on social media anymore. I meet up with friends for dinner or coffees, mentor and have deep convos that never get mentioned in the blogmaspheyre. It’s ok to keep some things off the world’s stage.

What’s on my mind now enough to put finger to iPhone keyboard? Leadership. Scratch that. Lack of leadership. It’s by far the simplest thing to get right only when you have the right motives. You have to want to support others, help others reach their goals, grow and enhance their skills. You can’t lead if you only are doing it because it involves getting promoted to manage others, or if you are a mentally unhealthy, paranoid, selfish, power hungry individual who lacks integrity and only cares about his or herself.

Did I describe any leaders you know or see on the world’s stage today? Think about just one and see if they don’t possess most – if not all – of the traits I just mentioned. Change my mind.

Here the sitch friends,

We have a worldwide leadership deficit. Well, no kidding you might say – so how do we change it? It starts with YOU. And you. And me. It starts with an attitude of leadership in everything you do, and it’s really simple.

Let’s get R-E-A-L

Recognize that every interaction is an opportunity to demonstrate leadership. Leaders bring others with them, not trample others trying to get to the top.

Encourage others to be the best they are gifted to be. Never tear anyone down despite how they treat you. What goes around always comes around.

Actions speak louder than words. Show integrity in every action.

Love. Not romantically. Don’t be weird. Authentically care and show compassion. Sometimes even a little tough love to help someone grow.

A rising tide lifts all boats.

Be the tide. Not tidal wave. Pass it on.
