New Year’s is my favorite holiday!
It’s a time of reflection, being grateful for everything learned and done over the past year, and the exciting energy of welcoming in a new year! It’s a time for a new beginning, and setting your vision for the next 12 months to make them epic!
I don’t believe in resolutions. It’s like dieting. Might work for a few weeks, but soon you’re miserable, and you quickly lose motivation.
I choose a word each year to be a theme for the year.
My word for 2019 was “Legendary”
And it indeed was a legendary year!
We saw legends: Tom Jones, Frankie Valli, Tony Bennett, Lionel Ritchie, Temptations and Four Tops, Jay Leno, David Tennant, Cast of Back to the Future, Adam Sandler, Weird Al, Bruce Campbell, Raimi Brothers, and legendary performances of Hugh Jackman, Zach Williams, Steven Curtis Chapman, Mandisa, Hamilton with my sweet goddaughter, Come From Away and the entire awesome season at Dr Phillips Center. Even performed with the legendary CFCArts community choir and on the stage of Dr Phillips with Rocktopia!
Took legendary trips to favorite and new places with legendary family, visiting Copenhagen, Helsinki, Stockholm, Tallinn, Russia, Panama Canal, Fredericia, Denmark, Cabo, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, San Diego, Dover, London, toured Buckingham Palace, Houston and stood on Stone Mountain in Atlanta…went to Live2Lead and was inspired by leadership legends John Maxwell, Rachel Hollis, Marcus Buckingham, Chris Hogan and Angela Arendhts. Took my MIL on a legendary trip for her first time out of the country and passport stamp.
Countless legendary conversations with friends, my Lean In circle ladies, coaching clients and mentees…
Attended and helped prep and staff the first International Women’s Day conference at Disney, grateful for the Legendary team I work, play and VoluntEAR with every day…#myCE
Learned how to Zentangle (thank you Brian Crimmins!), started writing a second book…but more to come on that later 😉
Worked and grew with legendary coach Bonnie Utley
Made every day legendary by trying something new – new restaurant, learned or read something new…met a new friend, visited new places around town
I even humbly was recognized by my peers with a Walt Disney Legacy Award and ended the year with a bucket list check of participating in Cast Choir in Disney World Candlelight…
So grateful for a truly legendary year!
I think I have my word for next year, but still a few more days until Jan. 1 to ponder…
