But First: SHOW UP!

Is it just me or is it so much easier to work out once you’re actually at the gym or class? It’s getting motivated to get in my car, drive to a location, and change my clothes that sounds so exhausting. But what happens after I show up? I’m into it! I love Zumba and dancing and the energy in the room from group exercise classes. The trick is, I need to just SHOW UP.

And it’s not a trick, is it? It’s the dreaded thinking we cook up in our own minds about how tired we are, the traffic we will have to face, the clothes I have to change into, the sweat, the shower…ugh…when “Friends” on Netflix and my cat on my lap sounds so much better after a long day at the office! We mentally have already talked ourselves out of showing up.

So, instead of focusing on the things leading up to being there when the music starts to play, I’m going to focus on just showing up.

What if we just focus on showing up in every aspect of our lives?

Showing up for our family, showing up for friends, our team mates at work, and most importantly ourselves…because without showing up for ourselves first, we can’t show up for others. Focus on what happens when people see you show up for them and the serotonin and endorphins that feel amazing when you are showing up for yourself?

If I’m already there mentally, I’ve already showed up in my head, then I’m already dancing 🙂
